When you add external sun shading devices in front of your windows, you of course want these products to last for decades. That's why solar shading systems should be able to withstand extreme weather conditions, too. If you are interested in windproof solar shading devices, you should definitely look at zipscreen. Here's why.
Windproof zipscreens distinguish themselves from normal screens thanks to their zipper and the side guide rails. Whereas regular screens are only held tight by the bottom rail, the awning fabric of windproof zipscreens is held tight both the bottom rail and the side guide rails.
So the awning fabric of regular screens is less supported, which means that wind gusts can get behind the fabric more easily. This causes additional force on the product, which increases the risk of a damaged fabric.
Zipscreens, on the other hand, are more resistant to strong wind gusts. As a result, the awning will not flap, which minimizes the risk of the awning being damaged by wind gusts.
We test all our zipscreens on weather resistance. Zipscreen V550 passed the wind class 6 test, which means it can withstand wind gusts until 102 km/h.
Nevertheless, we always advice you to keep an eye out on the product. Better safe than sorry: if there's no sun, roll up your zipscreen. And when your vertical awnings were rolled out during a storm, check if there's any damage before retracting the product again.
